Sewing Skills

From One Generation to Another

Who am I and why am I still sewing? I am a retired Home Economics teacher and over the decades I have taught students in middle school, high school, and adult education. Family memories also include sewing, of course. My son trick or treating in his Chewbacca costume and my daughter wearing a prom dress copied from a picture in Vogue magazine.

Living in Boulder, I realize how important it is to sew sustainably.

Since opening my sewing studio, I think of my neighbor hitting the slopes in his repaired ski pants and my friend staying warm in her jacket with a new zipper. And of course, inviting people into my studio to learn how to sew on buttons, repair a hem, and patch a hole — all with a glass of wine.

Can’t wait to repair, repurpose, and create with you!
